On 28th June 2025, Snehankit Helpline proudly celebrated the 146th birth anniversary of Helen Keller at the Deshastha Rigvedi Brahman Sangh Hall, Vile Parle (East), Mumbai.
A highlight of the event was the launch of Andhali — a Braille transcription of Smt. Shantabai Shelke’s Marathi translation of Helen Keller’s autobiography The Story of My Life. The book was unveiled under the gracious presence of Chief Guest Dr. Alka Mandke and stands as a testament to accessibility and literary empowerment. The Braille edition printed by Snehankit Helpline was lovingly transcribed in Braille by Snehankit Helpline’s dedicated volunteers.
Recognizing academic excellence, the program felicitated around 40 visually impaired students who had excelled in their board exams across Standard 10, 12, and graduate levels — each one a shining example of perseverance and achievement.
The gathering was further enlivened by an engaging cultural presentation by Sahitya Jagar, whose performance brought smiles and spirited applause. The afternoon concluded with a hearty lunch that was enjoyed by all attendees — a fitting end to a meaningful day of celebration, inspiration, and community spirit.
