Cooking Without Looking - Identifying Pulses

Skill-building sessions for the visually impaired often push boundaries of what many consider “ordinary.” One such session, identifying pulses by touch, smell, and intuition was a true test of patience and perseverance.

Think about it: differentiating between lentils, beans, and grains without sight is not just difficult, it requires immense focus, memory, and sensory awareness. What seemed nearly impossible at first became a triumph of determination.

The participants did brilliantly. Their ability to master this challenge is a reminder that resilience and creativity can overcome barriers. It’s not just about cooking - it’s about confidence, independence, and dignity.

These moments show us that empowerment comes from nurturing skills that others might take for granted.

And when courage meets opportunity, extraordinary things happen!
