Mobility Training

Did you know that nearly half of people with visual impairment rely on a white cane to travel independently?

A global survey found that 49.5% use the white cane as their primary mobility aid, and almost one-third can navigate all types of routes independently when supported with the right skills and tools.

But a cane alone doesn’t create independence - knowing how to use it does.

That’s where orientation and mobility training makes a powerful difference.

It teaches individuals how to read their surroundings, manage obstacles and move safely, leading to greater confidence, freedom, and outdoor participation.

In structured training settings, around 85% of participants reported clear benefits, including improved confidence and independence.

Why this matters:

- Fear and uncertainty often delay cane training. But with guidance and practice, fear turns into freedom.

- With the right technique, a white cane becomes more than a tool - it becomes direction, safety, and self-belief.
