At our Snehankit Helpline entrepreneurship & skill building training session in Arnala, we explored how technology is transforming independence for the visually impaired.
From screen readers like JAWS screen reader that convert digital text into speech, to refreshable braille displays that raise tiny pins to form tactile braille characters for reading computers and smartphones - accessibility technology is opening doors to education, employment, and everyday independence.
Participants also learned about tools that can:
• Read books and documents aloud
• Convert printed text into braille
• Identify objects and surroundings using AI
• Help navigate cities safely
• Access smartphones, apps, and the internet independently
Technology is no longer just innovation.
For millions with visual impairment, it is freedom.
At Snehankit Helpline, our mission is simple:
Bridge the gap between disability and opportunity through awareness, training, and access to assistive devices.
